Ryedale District Council

Farming advice

Provision of information and advice to farmers or prospective farmers. Anyone who owns livestock has many legal responsibilities and the local authority can provide information on what is required under this legislation and to provide a contact for further, more specialised guidance and information if required.

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) funds the Farming Advice Service (FAS) to help farms meet cross compliance and greening requirements, to help them protect and enhance the environment and to increase their business efficiency.

Visit GOV.UK for more information.

Farmers markets

There is one fixed Livestock market in Ryedale, operating from the cattle market area in Malton. The market operates three times weekly, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

For further information, please contact Malton Livestock Auctioneers.
