Ryedale District Council

Air handling units

Air handling units within buildings may be linked to air conditioning systems. Some air-conditioning systems e.g. those which use evaporative cooling, may pose potential health risks if not properly maintained.

Property owners must therefore make sure that air handling units are serviced at appropriate intervals and follow the instructions by the supplier or manufacturer.

Companies operating cooling towers or evaporative condensers within the Ryedale district must register them free of charge with Ryedale District Council.

Further information on the above or noise complaints relating to air handling systems should be reported to Health and Environment on 01653 600666.
